I Heart Obama Hat + Free Pattern

Yarnpie designed this knitted beanie hat and has been generous enough to provide a free download for her “I Heart Obama” pattern right here (PDF). Makes us want to pick up our much-neglected needles and make one of these for election day!

DDOOCFS: The New Power Tie
Denver-based Etsy seller Lineology hand screen prints these recycled ties with a graphic, bold print that would stand out nicely against a crisp white dress shirt. They come in many colors (just like our nation) and there’s a style to coordinate with any guy’s wardrobe. And, of course, a portion from the sale of each of these ties is donated by the seller to the Obama-Biden campaign.

A Quilt We Can Believe In
Nancy in STL of (we assume) St. Louis, Missouri uploaded this phenomenal quilt block to The Obama Craft Project Flickr pool. Here’s what she has to say about this project:
I created this donkey quilt for the Thimble & Thread Quilt Guild’s 2007/2008 Challenge which required recycled textile materials to be used for the top and backing. Vintage (circa 1940′s -1950′s) decorator silk and silk blend fabric samples, including the small attached optional colorway swatches, were used for the quilt top. Notice that each of the corner stars are actually a different color. The “O” in OBAMA is pieced because I really wanted to use the violet color, but only a snippet of it was left on the swatch. The backing is a matching vintage green and white chintz. Since the batting did not have to be recycled, I planned to use 100% Cotton “Warm & Natural” batting, as shown in the photos of the basted quilt. Subsequently, I removed the basting and decided to use “June Tailor Cotton Blend Fusible” batting.
Well done, Nancy!

DDOOCFS: Obamastuff’s Etsy Shop
“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
We are the change that we seek.”
Tonight’s Daily Dose of Obama Crafts for Sale (DDOOCFS) features not a single item, but rather an entire Etsy store. Etsy seller ObamaStuff has several stencils for sale to aid in your Obama crafting… Our favorite is the “We are the change.” O-mark stencil. Michele, the proprietor of ObamaStuff, is donating a portion of the profits to the Obama campaign—she does ask, however, that you please only stencil your own stuff, not public property or anything that could reflect poorly on the Obama campaign.

Freezer Paper Stencil T-Shirt (A Special Retirement Gift)
Rebecca, from Tuscon, Arizona, wrote to us about the T-shirt she embellished for her husband:
I’m not much of a crafter, but I wanted to makeover one of my husband’s good but dingy t-shirts to look like a jersey with name (Obama) and number (08) printed on the back (jerseys are supposed to be dingy, right?). He looks like an athlete when he wears it. I look like a soccer mom (with my Palin bangs, Tina Fey glasses, and PTA card). I was able to give the shirt to the hubster for his retirement after 20 years of military service including 14 excruciatingly long months in a row in Iraq.
You can read more over on her blog, Mom-a-Tron.
You can learn about Barack Obama’s plan to care for and support our nation’s veterans right here.
