Block from the Obama Quilt
This is Diana Bracy‘s block from the Fiber Artists for Obama Group Quilt project. (Diana also made another one of our favorite Obama crafts, check it out here.) The top label reads “change is good,” the middle portion explains the conception of the quilt and the bottom label reads “what color is the soul anyway?” Most of the fabrics are from Ghana.

Thank you for showcasing my block. You have done a wonderful jod in describing the block. I do wish that I had a clearer picture where you could actually read the words. Since the quilt will travel back to me, here in Las Vegas, I will get another opportunity to take another photo.
We have plans to have the quilt travel to as many states as possible and hopefully given to the Obama family. Thanks, Diana
The middle says this: As a member of Fiber Artists for Obama, I conceived the idea of making the Obama Quilt. An invitation was sent to all members asking for donations of one block to form a quilt. My aunt, Mary Bowman of Riverside, Ca. volunteered to sew the blocks together. The response was overwhelming! We have embraced the diversity of each Artist’s work in celebrating the joy of creating our quilt to share it with the world. This quilt is now being showcased in Houston’s International Quilt Market/ Festival. The general public can view it Oct 30th.
It is in a special category called “Patchwork Politics. This quilt will join my Fabric Mosaic of Obama and one of McCain. The McCain was a special request from Houston. You can see him on my Flckr site. Thanks so much for showcasing my art. Diana
Hi there! I just wanted to share the news that the group quilt from Fiber Artists for Obama will be showcased in Maryland. President Obama and the First Lady were also sent an invitation. The event is organized by Susan Walen of Bethesda, Maryland.

My Obama Mosaic along with 3 of my other quilts will accompany 60 other Quilt Artists. There is also a proposed book to be published and the funds are for scholarships to help the art students.
