<p>Karen, from South Carolina, made this scarf of handspun art yarn of wool &amp; vintage fabrics and then crocheted the yarn and combined it with novelty yarns and strips of cotton fabrics.<span> She&#8217;s currently selling <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&amp;item=260303702198">this one-of-a-kind scarf</a>, and <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&amp;item=260303704386">another, similar one,</a> on eBay. One hundred percent of the purchase price will be donated to the Obama campaign (and she&#8217;s offering free shipping). </span></p>
<p>Side note: Poor Karen, she emailed these items to us a few days ago and then eBay took her auction down. While her auctions are back up now, we still believe <a href="http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_8573648">Meg Whitman&#8217;s</a> behind it.</p>

We didn&#8217;t know exactly what amigurumi was when California-based amigurumi crafter <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/amiamour/">Sharon</a> sent us the photos of &#8220;ObAMI,&#8221; but a quick trip to <a href="http://www.squidoo.com/crocheteddolls">Squidoo </a>told us this:</p>
<blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left;">Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting small animals or toys. The dolls are done in single crochet in the round. The rounds are never joined, instead being worked in a spiral. Amigurumi are made up of parts that are crocheted, stuffed, and sewn together. The parts are usually an over-sized round head, a cylindrical body, arms and legs, ears, tail (if needed) and embellishments. Sometimes, felt is used to create the ears, face, or nose.</p>
</blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left;">And, as you can see, not only is her creation pretty darn cute, it&#8217;s a fairly large project as well.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a title="ObamaReference by Ami Amour, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/amiamour/2876780622/"><img class="aligncenter" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3073/2876780622_1738684d6c_o.jpg" alt="ObamaReference" width="383" height="292" /></a></p>
<p>You can read more about ObAMI and Sharon&#8217;s <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&amp;item=290262386837&amp;_trksid=p3907.m32&amp;_trkparms=tab%3DSelling" target="_blank">fundraiser</a> for the Obama Campaign over <a href="http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=269928.0">on this thread on Craftster</a>.</p>
