Whew! We’re on the home stretch, at long last. We were talking this afternoon and it seems like we’ve been engaged in this election FOREVER. And it has, basically, been a year since Josh and I were following the happenings closely. It seems like primary season was a million years ago. Anyway, a few housekeeping notes as we run up to November 4:

First, THANK YOU so very much! We EXCEEDED our fundraising goal last week! We couldn’t be more thrilled with the generosity of crafters from all over this country. It warms our hearts to see that with an average gift of just over $28 a person, we were able to raise over $500 in a very short period of time. You all rock!

Second, my inbox is literally overflowing with Obama-related crafts. I’m trying to respond to everyone, but it’s getting tough, and I have a lot on my plate beyond just taking care of the Obama Craft Project. So, you’ll likely hear from me, but it will take a bit of time. All of your work is wonderful, and I will post as much of it as I possibly can, even after the election. I am only posting items with positive messages about our candidate, so while I appreciate a Sarah Palin joke as much as the next person, I’m not posting those crafts here.

Also, as I try to get as many folks’ stuff up as possible, I won’t be writing as much commentary. Please don’t take this as a slight or as a reflection of your project, I’m just trying to get people’s work up online.

Finally, I want to remind you to make sure you vote. If you can still vote early tomorrow in your state, avoid the lines or other problems and get that taken care of now. And, if you are able, get involved in the last two days by visiting the Barack Obama campaign web site.

This is quite an inspiring project. Pennsylvanian Charity Larrison created these silkscreens with different Obama images. But they weren’t for herself. Nope. She figured out how to burn screens and made this batch up and shipped them off to the Obama campaign office in Reading, PA; the Reading office is going to print shirts for all of their “Super Volunteers.” What a wonderful way to recognize these special people. Charity says (in the Flickr photo description),

…this was probably the most difficult, annoying, time consuming and ultimately satisfying project I’ve ever taken on, and that is saying something.

Originally, they gave them out at a Women for Obama event that they hosted, but the proved so popular, they’ve been raising money for the Obama campaign by exchanging them for a $15 donation—and have raised over $700 to date! But they’ve run out of their “hope” beads… They would be happy to trade one of their necklaces to someone who can track them down. They are by Blue Moon Beads. The series is called Heart & Soul the are metal charms in three packs that say ‘love’ ‘joy’ and ‘hope’. Many Michael’s stores carry them. Here’s a photo of what they’re looking for:

This button bow was worn by a member of the Washington delegation to the Democratic National Convention in August, and was uploaded to the OCP by flickr pool by buttons4obama (Jody & Joann in Seattle, Washington), whose mission is to, “make sure every Obama supporter has Obama flair to wear!”

During the primary season, Jody and Joann sent out over 6,000 buttons to Texas, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Indiana, West Virginia, Oregon, Kentucky, Puerto Rico and Montana! They recently made their 10,000th button, which went to the DNC in Denver. They are inundated with requests for buttons are are recruiting others to get on the “button-making bandwagon;” you can get involved in the button-making efforts by contacting them via their web site. If you have a button making machine yourself, they’ve design some great templates that you can use. (Please: do not use these for a profit-making endeavor—that’s just not cool, plus it’s subject to copyright.) Tonight’s Daily Dose of Obama Crafts for Sale (DDOOCFS) features not a single item, but rather an entire Etsy store. Etsy seller ObamaStuff has several stencils for sale to aid in your Obama crafting… Our favorite is the “We are the change.” O-mark stencil. Michele, the proprietor of ObamaStuff, is donating a portion of the profits to the Obama campaign—she does ask, however, that you please only stencil your own stuff, not public property or anything that could reflect poorly on the Obama campaign.

Here’s what they have to save about their “Hop Obama” brew:

In keeping with the Illinois senator’s unifying theme, the Hop Obama is an entirely unique ale that doesn’t adhere to traditional style guidelines. The Hop Obama contains five different kinds of European crystal malt and three different kinds of Pacific Northwest hops.
