Cross-Stitch + Some Bling
Flickr user SarahDeer not only cross-stitched this portrait of President Obama in hot pink, she made it extra-girly with a blinged-out frame. How fun!

Hope & Change Kicks
We’re shoe people. Seriously, the husband and I have a ridiculously overstocked closet of shoes. And, living in Portland, Ore. (home of the two biggest athletic footwear companies in the world), that means that a huge amount of those shoes are snazzy sneakers. Oh, yeah, we love us some fancy kicks here in Stumptown. So, of course, these “Hope & Change” sneakers from flickr user out of the boudoir caught my eye immediately.
These white Nikes are painted with “Hope,” “Change,” “Yes We Can” and a variety of quotations and musings.
You can check out a color version over here.
Rachel gave us the heads up about these sweet Chucks that are for sale on Etsy right now. (We don’t normally feature for-sale items, but these are totally fresh.)

“The Inauguration. At Last.” Sketches by Maira Kalman
You must, right this minute, check out Maira Kalman’s sketches of the inauguration experience in the New York Times. Seriously, click over there right now. Words cannot even describe how much I love this series.
(Shout-out to Modern Craft for spotting this one.)

Obama Girl Necklace
One of my favorite crafting blogs is Peacock Chic, so imagine my delight yesterday when this post popped up in my RSS reader. She made this necklace for her niece, using PhotoShop, some shrinky dink and spraypaint. Lucky niece. Apparently, it was a big hit at school.
Click on the picture above for Peacock Chic’s 365 Days of Photos post about Inauguration Day.
