“Change” in Change

Change

From the artist Andy Magee’s Flickr photo description:

Change is a timely portrait of Barack Obama made from circulated coins. Beyond the visual pun, the work evokes a sense of historical significance. Although the piece is made entirely of coins, it could be considered a portrait made from portraits. Each coin is carefully arranged with the presidential portrait facing out. This subtle detial suggests that Obama is made from the same qualities as Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, and Roosevelt. Like Obama’s grassroots fundraising campaign, all of the coins for this sculpture were generously donated by friends and colleagues – who emptied their pockets and coin jars for me.

This piece is up for auction, click on the photo to be taken to the flickr photo page for more information.

Obama Logo Magazine Collage

Collage at Voter Registration Table by you.

Lise, super volunteer and creator of this knitted hat pattern, made this collage out of a Lucky magazine. And, of course it was used to decorate her voter registration booth at last weekend’s Crafty Wonderland.

Voter Registration at Crafty Wonderland

Definitely the craftiest voter registration table in the Pacific Northwest!

Thanks for all your hard work, Lise!

Obama Collage

We spotted Sara Packard’s (Le Mars, Iowa) Obama collage that she made for her brother over on craftster.

We just had to email her ask ask about her project and her support for Senator Obama’s campaign, and this is what she had to say:

My older brother has been wanting Obama for President in ’08 since his speech at the DNC in ’04, and started closely following his career then. He sang Obama’s praises to my whole family and got us all on board!

About this time last year, he started campainging in Iowa. He came to Le Mars twice, and I went to see him speak both times. I was blown away.

I feel honored to have been able to shake his hand twice, and am currently trying to volunteer with the local Democrats to try and get some more Obama support.

I support Obama because I feel he is the only candidate that we’ve had in a long time that TRULY knows what the American people need right now. And not what we want, but what we NEED. He will bring about change in Washington, and on a global level for the whole country. I simply don’t understand how someone could NOT be inspired by Barack Obama.

Thank you, Sara, for your inspiring words and creative project—we’re sure that your brother absolutely loved it!

Fired Up by mitomaid.

This is one of the most unique handmade Obama ’08 campaign pins we’ve seen! Flickr user mitomaid created this at the Mint Museum of Craft and Design in Charlotte, North Carolina for her fifth wedding anniversary.
