Train-Inspired Obama-Biden Sweatshirt

UP-Inspired Screen Printed Sweatshirt by you.

Josh created this hand screen printed sweatshirt for his dad, a train enthusiast and Obama fan. You can check out a few more pictures over here… (Yeah, that’s our other blog.) Download Barack Obama’s transportation plan right here—including information about strengthening Amtrak and providing high speed freight and passenger trains by clicking this link. And, of course, Joe Biden is known for taking Amtrak each and every day between Wilmington and D.C. We suppose that Joe would probably approve of both this message and this sweatshirt.

The Project That Started it All…

Barack Obama Stencil printed by average_jane_crafter.

Rachel (from Austin, Texas) doesn’t know this, but seeing her wonderful screen print (using a hand-cut stencil, rather than photo emulsion) this spring was this first time we thought, “Wish someone would record all the wonderful, creative craft stuff people are making…” Many months later, and a number of projects of her own—and lots of great ones made by others, The Obama Craft Project was born.

We had the chance to see Rachel’s Obama print in person this summer, after she’d begun embroidering it in red and blue, adding “Yes we can!”

(Click on the photo to visit the flickr page, where Rachel’s added lots of notes about this project.)

Obama in the News: Screenprinted Synergy

obama in the news hahahahhaha by CBT's Closet.

CBT’s Closet
was testing out a screen for a project on some newspapers and discovered a bit of inadvertent synergy in her print. If you look carefully in the upper right-hand corner of the newspaper, there’s a sidebar about Martin Luther King, Jr and the “I Have a Dream” speech.

Obama Screenprint Happy Hour in Austin

Stop by Studio 1408 in Austin, Texas for an Obama Screenprint Happy Hour! For a $10 suggested donation to the Obama-Biden campaign, this Friday, September 19, 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m., you can get your favorite T-shirt screen printed on the spot. How fun does that sound? Here in Portland we’re rarely jealous of any city–even Austin–but we sure wish we were there this Friday. Follow this link to download a flyer for more information.

Shout-out to Average Jane Crafter—of course—for letting us know about this awesome event! Have fun everyone!
